Malacca with the Odd-ies

My first road trip with my dear college mates which I named the group "The Odd-ies" (Amanda, Natalie, Vivien, Francisca, Eva, Eric, Kim Chun). Abigail couldn't join us due to some certain reason which left her heartbroken. Our devoted chauffeurs for the trip are Amanda and Eric. With their cautious driving skill, we managed to arrived Malacca town safely after 2 hours. We got lost a few times thanks to the GPS which directed us to a different location. Oddly, the GPS couldn't seem to function properly.. BUT, we still managed our way around.

This is our room in a guesthouse. The name of this guesthouse is Number Twenty. Located just right opposite the Famosa Chicken rice shop at Jonker street. The rooms are clean and cost only Rm95 per room. However, we have to share toilets with other guests as well. Thankfully, there weren't anyone else except for us there, I think.. So we kinda dominated the whole area. According to KC, he felt that the place was spooky~ But Eva and I felt quite peaceful there. So, if you are looking for a traditional budget guesthouse, you may check this out.

So after checking in.. We visited Famosa Chicken rice shop to satisfy our growling stomachs. If you ask me.. The chicken rice balls are just so-so. They do look cute but they taste the same as those normal ones. Our second makan place was assam laksa and cendol at.. "Sam Suk Kung" (If i'm not wrong) along Jonker street as well. They sell really spicy laksa there, but good ones. Their cendol is quite famous in Malacca. The weather was so damn hot that we were sweating profusely!

We then found this cute, comfy cafe situated along an alley. It's adjacent to Famosa Chicken rice shop. I can't recall the name but it was recommended by "Lonely Planet". Seriously, it is a real good place to sit down and enjoy a cooling drink while chilling out with your friends.

See what I mean? They have plants, paintings and decos that really captured our attention. The beverages were yummy and affordable too! Bonus. So the whole bunch of us sat there and gossiped till the Jonker's night market opens. We took a stroll along the night market and decided to head for the famous fried oyster with egg which they call it "O-Chien".

This is the famous "O-chien" chef!! I forgot to ask for his name. His stall only opens at night and it's located along Jalan Bunga Raya. There's this alley where it is lighted up at night. Nothing much there except for a coffee shop next to this stall which sells "wonton noodles". I couldn't recall the direction to the famous "wonton noodle" at Jalan Temenggong so I decided to ask the seller there for direction (Not aware that he too sells wonton noodle!). So the kind-hearted seller directed me to the place. Aww...

This is the pic of our "unfinished" bowls of noodles. It's all my fault... I told them that the small portion is REALLY small so all of them ordered BIG!!! End up, the noodles doesn't seem to decrease even though we tried so hard to consume as much as we could. The lady boss asked us to pack it up and eat later (We were ashamed of ourselves). So we really did packed the left over up in a plastic bag and....... WE DISPOSED IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!! I know.. we are such bad children. *faint* Forgive us God for we have sinned. But we really couldn't eat it no more.. Some of them even said "I'll not have wonton noodles for months to come!". Lol... My bad. Oops~

A road trip wouldn't be complete without a drinking session right? So, we went back to Jonkers and decided to have a drink at Geographer which Natalie told me "You know this place appeared in the movie Momocha?". It was an old movie filmed by Richie Ren and Sammi Cheng. Anyway, due to the fact that i couldn't take alcohol (because I'm allergic to it. Sadly..) I ordered an iced green tea. And the young ones had beer! Cis..
At about 1am, we went back to our guesthouse. All of us were so tired due to the long day of travelling around YET.. they wanna have pillow talk!! WTH~ So yeah, we had pillow talk till 4am. They all looked like ghosts, errr.. including me. But I would say it did bonded us closer together.
And the consequences for sleeping at 4am?? All of them woke up LATE! Except for Eva and I of course. WE are suppose to check out 11am. They woke up at 10.45. All were rushing like chicken without a head. And because they were late, we had to extend a room for them to put on their make-up, blow hair, and had a light breakfast of coffee and toast. Oh, the guesthouse serves continental breakfast by the way. We paid Rm15 for an hour of extension on the room. So not fair. Lesson learnt.. DO NOT HAVE PILLOW TALK!

After checking out, we had Nyonya cuisine at Nancy's Place. Then, The popiah of course.. It is a MUST HAVE. The popiah stall is located at Jalan Bunga Raya, closes on Wednesday (I think) and opens from 2pm-till it's sold out, usually around 5pm. Next, we had pork sate at Ming's Hut. They also serves fresh juices!!

Before heading home, I brought them for dessert at Nadeje cake house. My sister loves this. I love them too. It is also another MUST HAVE. Try the original and rum & raisin flavour mille crepe. You'll not regret it.
So with a full tummy, we drove home and poor Eric encountered a road bully. Worse, he had Natalie giving him directions to a Korean restaurant recommended by Nat. For those who doesn't know the story, I choose not to tell it here for the sake of keeping my dear friend's image. To make the story short, we all almost had heart attacks. But thankfully, we managed to arrive there safe and sound.

As you can see.. Eric was so annoyed that kept staring at Natalie.. Lol. And the "sesat" Nat didn't even realised it. And so, Amanda and I came to a conclusion that Eric has this love-hate relationship with Natalie. Eventually, the hatred never last more than 10 minutes.

See.. A big happy family!
